SEATTLE, WA—(Marketwire – 06/02/10) – Opscode, Inc., a cloud infrastructure automation company, today announced the appointment of two new technical evangelists: Adrian Cole, founder of jclouds.org, an open source cloud framework that enables developers to reuse their java code, and Aaron Peterson, a 14-year systems and network veteran. In their new roles, Adrian and Aaron will be actively engaged in spreading the gospel and driving adoption for the systems integration framework "Chef," where they will work to cultivate and grow a community of active contributors.

"Both Aaron and Adrian are cloud infrastructure rock stars who as technology evangelists will play a critical role in defining best practices and educating this fast growing community on how Chef can be most efficiently deployed to fully automate the next generation of cloud infrastructure," said Jesse Robbins, CEO and co-founder of Opscode. "The Chef community represents one of the largest and fastest growing open source configuration management projects today. With forward thinking practitioners like Adrian and Aaron helping Opscode spread our vision for what the future of infrastructure looks like, we’ll be well positioned to make this vision a reality."

Prior to joining Opscode, Aaron spent more than 14 years designing and building IT infrastructure and operations at places such as Bank of America, Cisco Systems, and the University of California at Santa Cruz. Working with Jesse Robbins in infrastructure and security operations at Amazon.com, Aaron wielded real-time command-line kung fu to tens of thousands of servers at once and automated global production infrastructure. Aaron is passionate about information design and visualization, scale, and analysis. He has done Computer Science undergraduate work at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Adrian Cole is founder of jclouds.org, a popular open source cloud framework for the java community. Adrian has held senior architect roles for a number of major GLOBAL enterprise organizations, including most recently at VMWare where he was a Cloud Ecosystem Architect. Prior to VMWare, Adrian served as well as Barclays Global, Fannie Mae, and Digex. Adrian earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Hood College.
