This morning at the OpenStack Summit in Atlanta, our friends at Red Hat announced their new ManageIQ Community, which aims to be a one-stop shop for open source cloud management, including governance, automation, and tons of content. Here’s what Joe Fitzgerald, general manager of cloud management at Red Hat had to say:

“The industry has been focusing on building an open source cloud infrastructure with OpenStack and selling expensive, proprietary management software on top of that. We believe the entire cloud should be open with no lock-in, so we are contributing this highly valuable code base to open up the management stack for the first time.”

Chef joins AutoTrader Group, Booz Allen Hamilton, Cisco, and many more in working with Red Hat to deliver content to the ManageIQ Community for building and automating open source clouds. Our work with Red Hat continues Chef’s own longstanding commitment to OpenStack. For the latest and greatest on Chef + OpenStack, be sure to join our own Matt Ray at OpenStack Summit this week for these three sessions:

* Open Source Chef Community Project Developer Session, Tues., May 13, 11:15 am – 2:40 pm

* Chef for OpenStack Deployment Workshop, Wed., May 14, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

* Ops Meetup: Chef, Fri., May 16, 2:10-2:50 pm
