Ohai Chefs,

We are pleased to announce that Chef Reporting 1.5.1 is now available. This release improves the scalability and performance for customers running Chef Reporting for large infrastructures.

What’s New?

Chef Reporting 1.5.1 now offers performance improvements that are available in Chef Server 12.1.0 to reduce load on the reporting database. We recommend upgrading to this version for both scalability and performance benefits.

What’s Different?

Queries in the node detail dashboard are now faster with the help of new reporting database indexes. The view no longer shows in-progress runs which significantly boosts page performance and response times.

Changelog

Some more insight into the changes with this release:

  • Add tunables for pooler max_queue and timeouts. These settings are documented here
  • Add extra indexes for performance
  • Remove the in-progress runs from the Node Dashboard

Where can I get it?

The latest version of Chef Reporting is available for download at https://downloads.chef.io/reporting/. These changes have also been deployed for all users of Hosted Chef.
