Sad News for the Opscode Community

I have some sad news for the Opscode community:

Mitch Hill passed away yesterday morning after a difficult fight with cancer.  Mitch had a storied career at Accenture, Avanade, and most recently Opscode.  He was Opscode’s CEO for two years before he stepped down this summer; he remained a close and trusted advisor until the end.  Mitch was an extraordinary individual who made an impact on everyone he touched in both his personal and professional life.  He made a tremendous impact to Opscode and to our team; we would not be where we are today without his leadership.

There will be a service for Mitch open to all that know him:

Thursday, December 19th
5:30 pm
Museum of Flight
9404 East Marginal Way S
Seattle, WA 98108-4097

Mitch’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Here’s a Mitch-specific link:

Mitch will be dearly missed. Thank you for all your kind thoughts.
