Chef Enterprise Automation Stack is for configuring, auditing, remediating, infrastructure and operating system configurations, and delivering applications.

Chef Enterprise Automation Stack includes

• Chef InSpec — Installed on the target operating systems or operated remotely
• Chef Infra — Installed on the target operating systems
• Chef Habitat — Installed on the target operating system
• Chef Automate — Installed on a server
• Compliance Audit Content — Access to InSpec audit profiles and Habitat packages for auditing operating systems and applications.
• Compliance Remediation Content — Access to Chef Infra Cookbooks and Chef Habitat packages for remediating compliance findings on operating systems and applications.

Chef Infrastructure Management

Chef Infrastructure Management is for configuring infrastructure and operating system configurations.

Chef Infrastructure Management includes

• Chef Infra — Installed on the target operating systems
• Chef Habitat (limited use) — Installed on the target operating system, limited to managing Chef Infra agents.
• Chef Automate — Installed on a server

Chef App Delivery

Chef App Delivery is for defining, building, and delivering applications.

Chef App Delivery includes

• Chef Infra — Installed on the target operating systems
• Chef Habitat — Installed on the target operating system
• Chef Automate — Installed on a server

Chef Desktop Management

Chef Desktop Management is for configuring endpoints that are devices such as laptops, desktops, kiosks, and tablets with supported platforms.

Chef Desktop Management Includes

• Chef Infra (limited use) — Installed on desktop devices for configuration
• Chef Automate — Installed on a server with the –product desktop option enabled
• Chef InSpec — Up to 10 instances installed as pipeline integration tests only
• Desktop Management Content — access to cookbooks for configuring desktop machines

Chef Desktop Compliance

Chef Desktop Management is for configuring endpoints that are devices such as laptops, desktops, kiosks, and tablets with supported platforms.

Chef Desktop Compliance Includes

• Chef Infra (limited use) — Installed on desktop devices for configuration
• Chef Automate — Installed on a server with the –product desktop option enabled

Chef Compliance Audit — OS and Applications

Chef Compliance Audit is for auditing infrastructure, software, or operating system configurations. 

Chef Compliance Audit Includes

• Chef InSpec — Installed on the target operating systems or operated remotely
• Chef Habitat (limited use) — Installed on the target operating system, limited to managing InSpec agents.
• Chef Automate — Installed on a server

Chef Compliance Remediation is for audit and remediation of infrastructure, software, or operating system configurations.
