Announcement Chef Client 16 EOL Date Change

It’s April, and our long-time users will know that this month has historically meant that we release a new major version of Chef Client and end support for an old major version. Chef Client 18 will not be released this month (more news coming on that soon!), which means we need to make a change.

Chef Infra Client 16 will continue to receive support, security vulnerability patches, and fixes for high critical issues until November 30, 2022.

Chef Infra Client 16 was initially scheduled for April 30, 2022, deprecation. The decision to extend support is based on community and user feedback, and we listen.

We intend to support you in continuing to use the 16—x version of Infra Client without an immediate need to upgrade. We encourage you to refer to https://docs.chef.io/versions/ for all our products’ timelines and support terms. You can always reach out for more details, clarifications, and questions through our support channels. Check back for our upcoming Chef Infra Client 18 release announcements.
