The Progress Chef team believes in providing our learners with meaningful, engaging and up-to-date learning experiences. As a result, our learning community is making a significant move from our current Learn Chef tutorials website to a fresh and inspiring new space. And we couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities it brings!
As our learning community continues to grow and evolve, we believe this new site will provide you with the opportunity to learn Chef in a new way! What’s more, we are also announcing the start of two innovative programs with a ton of benefits to reap.

What Is The Change?
Learn Chef has until now been hosted at http://learn.chef.io/. On Feb 29, 2024, we will move our learning site to the Progress Education Community which can be accessed through http:/chef.io/training/tutorials.
We are also working towards redirecting access from learn.chef.io to the new site. Additionally, we have introduced two new programs that will benefit Chef learners.
Why Are We Migrating?
Our endeavor is to standardize our learning tutorials to align with the rest of the Progress educational content. The new Learn Chef will be hosted on a Progress Educational Community site that offers free tutorials and paid courses, allowing learners to learn about Chef more effectively.
Will I need a new user ID and password?
Yes. As we migrate to our new platform, we request that our users create new user IDs and passwords to access the free tutorials. This will allow us to better advise you on your learning paths. Please register here to create a new ProgressID and password.
However, if you already have a ProgressID, you can use it to log in to the Progress Education Community portal.
How Will You Benefit from the New Site?
All free Chef tutorials and paid certifications will be hosted on the Progress Education Community portal henceforth. This will allow us to standardize our course offerings based on Progress Education guidelines. Users who already have a Progress ID can use the same to log in to the Progress Education Community portal. This is a part of our greater vision to provide a single ID to access our various initiatives, including the community support link site, product downloads, and customer self-service portals.
We hope this new site will enable users to experience a better learning journey. The new site will include all courses earlier provided on the learn.chef.io website. Additionally, learners will also have access to two new programs: ‘Learn Chef Certify’ and’ Learn Chef Premium.’
Learn Chef Certify
By participating in our certification programs, practitioners can become certified experts on Chef products and display their expertise in the DevOps space. Candidates can choose between two tracks that suit their skill and interest — ‘Associate Chef’ and/or ‘Executive Chef’ specialist.
Associate Chef Certification
Associate Chef Certification is a course meant for Chef practitioners who have basic operational experience with Chef. It will also provide practitioners with access to the Learn Chef Lab. Candidates must complete all lab tasks and then complete a multiple-choice-based examination at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, candidates will receive the ‘Chef Certified Associate Engineer’ certificate.
Executive Chef Certification
Candidates with deep and extensive experience with Chef in terms of architecting and operations (writing cookbooks, pipelines and using InSpec) can validate their expertise with the ‘Executive Chef Certification’. In this certification, candidates will partner with a senior Chef consultant who will serve as their mentor and proctor. Candidates will be certified as a ‘Chef Certified Architect’ upon successful completion of all the tasks proctored by their mentor.
Learn Chef Premium
Learn Chef Premium is an on-demand, self-paced Education-as-a-Service (EaaS) platform that provides digitized formats of all the 'currently offered live Chef training.' In addition to the classes, learners will have year-round access to a virtual lab environment with the required Chef software. Learn Chef Premium is the ideal course for beginners to master the art of DevOps. This training bundle includes six individual classes (Chef Foundations, Chef Automate Compliance, Chef Intermediate, Chef Habitat, using Chef/Jenkins Pipeline, using Chef/Azure Pipeline), which are structured as a complete Chef learning path.
